Although there are at least 3 other totally unrelated woods that have sandlewood as all or part of one or more of their common names, I believe that the woods most properly called sandlewood are Santalum spp of the family Santalaceae and this includes at least S. album, S. freycinetianum, S. lanceolatum, and S. spicatum
