Afzelia xylocarpa of the family Fabaceae. Native to Thailand. As nearly as I can determine, this is a specific species among the many that are sold as "afzelia burl". Afzelia has its own page on this site, but I have left this wood here anyway since the designation is more specific than the general Afzelia spp.
