Cordia spp. of the family Boraginaceae. Native to Central and South America. Includes at least C. alliodora, C. dodecandra, C. gerascanthus, and C. sebestena, and I have no idea which of them are represented on this page unless otherwise stated.

pen blanks that have been waxed --- these pics are from a vendor whose pics make most woods come out looking purple no matter what color the wood actually is, so I have NO faith in this color.

planks all listed as picana negra / Cordia alliadora, which is a misspelling of Cordia alliodora; this kind of mistake is typical of many wood vendors, who don't really care about accuracy and apparently spend no time researching the kinds of woods they sell). I suspect the colors on these are fairly accurate, although the variation in the amount of purple tint is troublesome.
