AMARGO
Vatairea spp. and Vataireopsis spp.
Vatairea spp. and Vataireopsis spp. of the family: Leguminosae (subfamily Papilionoideae), the legume or pea family
“amargo” is the Brazilian word for “bitter”. The wood shown here will be the same as fava amargoso. Not a popular wood: dust can be highly irritating.
My thanks to Paul van Rijckevorsel for this summary
web pics:
planks
mottle striped figure plank and closeup --- hard to say which color (if either) really reflects the actual wood color
pen turning sticks that have been waxed and oiled
these are from the BogusColorVendor so I doubt the bright red/orange color on the first two and the red tint on the last one.
