purpleheart exposure series

raw and looking fairly dull

after 1 week with the right side exposed to direct sunlight (behind window glass) for a few hours a day and the left side covered --- interestingly enough, and to my surprise, the subsequent weeks showed the bright purple that developed after a week began to brown out and as you'll see below, by 12 weeks it had lost most of the purple. Also note that the vague area just to the left of the fully exposed area still shows some bright purple after 12 weeks and even after 6 months.

6 months

3 years, 1 month, but after 6 months the piece was put in my basement which has very limited indirect sunlight and no incandescent light, just flourescent. The piece did continue to darken just a little more, both the exposed and unexposed portions.
